URGENT message from Booster Club President, Mike Palomino re: District Meeting Tuesday, April 8th--PLEASE READ

Patrons of the Deer Valley Community,                                                                         April 4, 2014

It has been brought to my attention that at this Tuesday's board meeting, April 8th,  the superintendent will seek approval from the governing board to non renew, (terminate) the contracts of Mrs. Dobbs and Mr. Allen. As the president of the Deer Valley Football Booster Club I am deeply saddened and offended by this action.

I along with many of you were led to believe that the district was working hand in hand with Mrs. Dobbs in defending our students and program against the AIA's blatant claim of alleged recruiting. Is this how our superintendent works on behalf of our children's benefit? Should we all assume that his actions to seek termination have nothing to do with the current litigation that involves current associate superintendent's, the district athletic director, 3 board members and the superintendent himself!

I have been able to review the entire set of documents that were forwarded by Mr. Hobson, who represents Mrs. Dobbs, Mr. Allen,  the Sestak's- Calhoun's and Mitchell's. After reading through all the affidavits, it has become quite apparent that our superintendent along with his inner circle of cohorts, were not the least bit interested in protecting our students. Their plan was quite nefarious, to seek the removal of Mrs. Dobbs and Mr. Allen from their respective positions at Deer Valley. I will not hesitate to demand a response from the superintendent in regards to his current contribution to the upcoming AIA appeal. It seems quite apparent that the only individual who is actually defending our 2 students is Mrs. Dobbs, through the actions of her attorney. In this 120 plus page response I see no direct involvement from the superintendent and his staff. What is apparent in the affidavits given is that at no time during the early stages of this episode back in August of 2013, did the district offer any assistance to the administrative team at Deer Valley regarding this issue. The best term I would offer is “they were thrown under the bus” by the AIA along with certain district office employees.

I am appealing to the entire Deer Valley Community, to make their presence known at this Tuesday's board meeting. All local news stations will be contacted, speakers will demand an explanation from any board member who chooses to proceed ahead with this motion, and make them aware that they will be held accountable for their actions.

Lastly and most important, it has come to my attention that several pieces of evidence have now surfaced that will play a significant role in the upcoming state and federal lawsuits against the district and AIA. A public document exists that was sent to the AIA by non other than our district athletic director Bill Gahn, where he admits guilt by Deer Valley for playing 2 ineligible players. The only problem is that this document is a falsified document. It was submitted after the response by Mrs. Dobbs to the AIA who categorically stated the students were not ineligible! Under AIA bylaws, only the principal has the authority to submit the schools response to alleged violations, no one else.

What infuriates me as it will our patrons, is this false document was given to the Governing Board    members when they were determining the appeal cases of Mrs. Dobbs and Mr. Allen and was the only document made available, which once again stated the 2 athletes were ineligible! One question that we will demand to have answered by the superintendent will be  “why was the actual legitimate document
forwarded by Mrs. Dobbs to the AIA not made available to the Governing Board when determining the fate of  Mrs. Dobbs and Mr. Allen? What individual or group of individuals are responsible for this egregious act?

Are the three Governing Board members who voted that night to follow through with suspension and eventual termination, aware now that they based their decision on a falsified document? More importantly, do they understand that further discipline will only exacerbate the issue and result in more substantial punitive measures against our district at the expense of the taxpayers?

We will make all this information available to the media and public since it is part of public record. We will leave no stone unturned, until we are given the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!!

See you all Tuesday 7.00pm, at the District Office, on 15th Ave just north of the 101 Freeway. Arrive Early. Make your presence felt!

Best regards,
Mike Palomino

Message from DVHS Football Booster Club President, Mike Palomino to all Football Parents

Parents and Patrons of the Deer Valley Community,                                              April 1,2014

As president of the Deer Valley Football Booster Club, I want each and every member of the
Deer Valley Community to be made aware of our position regarding the AIA and it's decision to charge
Deer Valley's High School football program with recruiting violations. First and foremost, we stand
totally committed to Deer Valley's administrative teams response to these alleged allegations, that a
thorough investigation was done and no evidence of recruitment of any athlete surfaced. Despite the
assertion by Mrs. Dobbs and Mr. Allen, the AIA continued with their baseless allegations that were
precipitated by third party hearsay and innuendo.

Once the AIA board determines a time and date for our appeal sometime in April, I am asking
every parent and every athlete of the Deer Valley community to attend to show the AIA that we will not
stand by as they continue to usurp their authority against schools as a measure of retaliation. Their
actions should not surprise anyone, based on current litigation against the AIA in federal court by Mrs.
Dobbs, Mr. Allen, and the parents of our two eligible football players.

As the President of the Football Booster Club, my concern is not with the commitment to our
players and coaches by Deer Valley's administrative team, but rather the commitment by our District
office and Superintendent. Many parents, educators and myself included, have a vivid account of our
Superintendent categorically stating that if the AIA continued with any further discipline against Deer
Valley after “corrective measures” were put in place by the district, that Deer Valley would respond in a
decisive manner by “getting down on all four's.”

As concerned parents and patrons of the community, we expect the Governing Board along with the
Superintendent to have a detailed, concise plan of action in place if the AIA's Executive board follows
script and rules against our football program.
Please continue to follow our football site, once a date has been set for Deer Valley to present it's
case to the AIA's Executive Board we will post it!!

Message from Barbara Dobbs, Principal, Deer Valley High School

Dear DVHS Football Parents and athletes,

Please see below a message from Barbara Dobbs, Principal of Deer Valley High School:
(Also, please see link on website: )

Dear Students and Parents:
At the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s Executive Board meeting held on February 17th, the Board unanimously voted to charge Deer Valley High School with recruiting violations. In the Wednesday, March 05, 2014 edition of the Arizona Republic, Richard Obert’s article read “AIA: Deer Valley recruited football players.”
As the principal of Deer Valley High School, I am the person charged under the AIA rules with investigating allegations of illegal recruitment.   I am the person who is supposed to make the decision about eligibility of a student athlete. I take my responsibility seriously. I categorically deny the allegations put forth by the AIA’s one sided “investigation”. Back in August when the hearsay statements were made by the Centennial football coach, Mr. Allen and I conducted a thorough investigation and found no evidence of recruitment of any athletes. As Coach Bolus stated in the newspaper article, the AIA has never interviewed anyone from Deer Valley regarding these unfounded allegations. The AIA never interviewed the Deer Valley students alleged to have been recruited. The AIA never interviewed the parents of the Deer Valley students alleged to have been recruited. The AIA never interviewed the coaches who were alleged to have engaged in recruiting. The AIA’s investigation relied on third party hearsay and innuendo. Our school’s opportunity to share the facts of our investigation will be afforded to us sometime in April, once the AIA Board determines a date and time for our presentation.
We are terribly sorry for the stress and uncertainty this unnecessary situation has placed on our athletes, our parents, and the entire school. Deer Valley has always been ethical in our practices and honored our commitments to the AIA.   However, when false allegations are made about our school, our athletes, and our students we will not sit idly by but will defend our honor to the fullest.
